1. Who We Are

alienInFlux Sound System is an event promoter and sound system rental service based in Toronto, Canada. If you have any questions or requests about your personal information, contact the owner at privacy@alieninflux.ca.

2. What Personal Data We Collect

We collect personal information such as:

  • Name, email, phone number, and payment information when you purchase tickets
  • Comments you leave on our websites
  • Aggregate Google Analytics data collected through cookies

This information helps us process ticket orders, send event updates, provide customer support, and improve your browsing experience in accordance with Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) and Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).

3. Email Communications

  • Ticket Purchases: Buying a ticket creates an existing business relationship under Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). This allows us to send essential event information, reminders, and promotional messages about similar events for up to two years after your last transaction, unless you unsubscribe. We may still send required alerts about your specific event.
  • Newsletter Subscription: Signing up via our websites gives us your express consent to receive promotional emails. This consent remains valid until you unsubscribe.
  • You can unsubscribe from promotional emails at any time by clicking the link in any message.

We use MailerLite, an email service provider based in the European Union, to manage newsletters and event updates. Names and email addresses are stored on MailerLite in the EU (data centre in the Netherlands), with encryption and restricted access. MailerLite is fully General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) compliant. We do not use Mailerlite’s AI-optimized send times upgrade.

4. Cookies & Tracking

Our websites and emails operate differently from ad-driven platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, etc.). We do not build advertising profiles, use algorithms or AI to predict behaviour, or personalize content based on tracking. We use minimal tools only to improve site performance:

  • Essential cookies: Required for basic functions such as security and navigation (cannot be disabled).
  • Analytics cookies: Used in aggregate form to understand traffic trends and enhance user experience. You can opt out through your browser settings.

If you leave a comment, you may choose to save your name, email, and website in a cookie for your convenience (stored for up to one year).

5. Photography and Videography

At our events, hobbyists and professional photographers and videographers may capture images and footage for artistic, community, and promotional purposes (including use on our websites, social media, and marketing materials).

By attending alienInFlux events, you consent to being photographed or recorded. However, we strongly encourage respect for everyone’s comfort:

  • Please ask for permission (verbally or with a gesture) before photographing or filming individuals.
  • If you do not wish to be photographed or recorded, please let the photographer, staff, or organizer know.
  • If you change your mind about being photographed/filmed after the event, please let the photographer or organizer know.
  • If you see a photo or video of yourself that you would like removed from our website or social media, please contact us at privacy@alieninflux.ca, and we will remove it where reasonably possible.
  • We do not share high-resolution images with subjects if we have any.

6. Embedded Content

Embedded content from third parties (e.g., SoundCloud, YouTube, Vimeo, Instagram) may collect data and use cookies as if you had visited their sites directly. We are not responsible for their privacy practices.

7. Ticketing & Third-Party Services

We use TicketWeb.ca to process ticket purchases. When you buy a ticket, TicketWeb collects and processes your personal information on our behalf. This data may be stored in the United States and is subject to U.S. laws.

As the event producer, alienInFlux shares necessary information with TicketWeb to process orders, deliver tickets, and provide support. TicketWeb may also use your data for its own purposes in accordance with its policies.

For details, please review TicketWeb’s Privacy Policy, Terms of Use, and Purchase Policy.

In special circumstances, you can avoid third-party ticketing by contacting the owner of alienInFlux Sound System directly to pay by cash or e-transfer.

8. Who We Share Your Data With

We do not sell your personal information. We only share it with trusted service providers strictly necessary to:

  • Process ticket orders and payments
  • Send email communications
  • Manage events and improve our websites

All international transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards in accordance with Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA).

9. How Long Do We Retain Your Data

We retain personal information only as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected or to meet legal obligations:

  • Comments: Retained while the website remains active
  • Ticketing and marketing data: Generally up to two years after your last transaction

10. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access a copy of your personal data
  • Request correction or deletion of your data
