Boreal Canoe Trip task groups help the trip run smoothly and offer a great way to connect with others. To join the trip, everyone must register and sign up for a task group using their Boreal ticket code. Tasks include boat/site setup, meal prep/cleanup, sound system handling, final breakdown, and general support. We’ll follow up with details about the trip and your role before departure.
🍝 Fri: Dinner Prep
Set up your tent quickly, cook/serve a pasta dinner (pasta, salad, salami). Clean kitchen after.
🍳 Sat: Brunch Prep
9:30am: scrambled eggs, maple beans, smoked salmon. Clean kitchen after.
🍛 Sat: Dinner Prep
Before 4pm kitchen: sweet Thai coconut pineapple curry stir-fry w/rice (tofu, salad, raisins, peppers, carrots, zucchini). Clean up. Peanut allergy alert.
🥞 Sun: Brunch Prep
10am kitchen: granola, yogurt, fruit salad, hard-boiled eggs. Clean kitchen after.
🚛 Fri: Pack Motor Boat
Head to main dock first. Load trailer supplies onto supply boat for camp/dinner prep (before personal gear).
🍽️ Fri: Kitchen Setup
Meet supply boat at Kitchen Rock. Carry food/gear up, set tarps/tables/equipment so dinner crew starts. Camp after.
🚽 Fri: Build Outhouses
Meet supply boat w/Roman/Loclan at Kitchen Rock. Grab 2 TP bins, fabric, string/light. Set up distant from site.
🛶 Fri: Canoe Tidy-Up
After all arrive: stack canoes upside down in clusters (3 vests + 2 paddles each). Tidy stray items into piles.
🔥 Fri/Sat: Firewood
Collect dead/fallen wood downstream (narrows). Stack at Kitchen Rock (Fri) + dance floor (Sat) for sundown fires.
🔊 Sat: Sound Setup/Pack-Up
Sat 2pm: meet sound boat at dance floor, carry gear up, setup (diff system). Sun 2pm: breakdown to boat.
🗑️ Sun: Clean-Up
Final breakdown after brunch: kitchen, site, boats. Help as needed.
